L’area di Chienna è paesaggisticamente molto rilevante, per le notevoli dimensioni che caratterizzano l’area e le tracce di un insediamento preistorico.

Lago di Chienna è ubicato a circa 3 chilometri ad ovest di Conversano, nella parte più profonda di una dolina a forma circolare (diametro 240 m) solcata da gradoni.

I dintorni del lago di Chienna sono di grande importanza archeologica, dato che vi sono stati rinvenuti insediamenti risalenti al neolitico, ed all’età dei Metalli (L’Abbate, 1981), in particolare nei pressi della Grotta di San Giacinto, posta a poche centinaia di metri dal lago.

Di un certo interesse risulta, quindi, in questa zona, il sistema lago-grotta-insediamento, che testimonia l’antica presenza dell’uomo.

La chiesetta di Santa Filomena è sulla SP 65. La Chiesetta di S. Pietro d’Embrice è sulla strada per il lago di Petrullo.
